A list of my favorite travel gear.
LOWA Renegade GTX® Mid
I’ve never worn hiking boots before but I needed a pair for my gorilla trek in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda. After a lot of research, I ordered the LOWA Renegade GTX® Mid. They were comfortable right out of the box and had great ankle support and a solid grip. I ordered my usual size and had room to add my own arch support insoles and wear sock liners and thin hiking socks.
Update: Nearly 2 years later, I am still wearing these for occasional hiking. Definitely a good investment.
Metrosafe™ LS250 Anti-Theft Shoulder Bag
This bag by pacsafe has great safety features and holds just enough essentials for the day. Though I may upgrade to a pacsafe backpack for improved comfort.
Canon Powershot G15
This is a great point and shoot camera! I used it throughout Europe in 2013 and got amazing shots. The newer G16 version is now available.
Canon EOS Rebel SL1
I bought the EOS Rebel SL1 for my trip to Uganda in 2014. I am still learning to use the manual settings, but it was great on auto mode and the 55-250mm zoom lens was perfect for game drives. The camera body and 18-55mm lens is available as a set in the $700s.
I’ve now added an ultra wide angle lens to my kit: the Tamron 10-24mm. It’s been a lifesaver for shooting in small places and capturing landscapes.
